The bold yellow Hietala house cannot be missed when entering the village of Kierinki.
Hietala serves as a breakfast and dinner restaurant for all guests staying at the hotel. It is also a venue for various parties, meetings and events by ordered.
The beautiful and idyllic courtyard houses the World’s Smallest Pub and a barn and barn bar, which are open during summer events.
Hietala’s Small red house serves as a wonderful meeting space for groups or as a venue for atmospheric theme dinners.
The treasures of Hietala include art, crafts and hunting trophies, history and the mysticism of Lapland. The Hietala farm was founded in 1857. The current main building was built in 1914 and it served as an inn in its first decades, later as the Kieringi primary school from 1947 to 1958.
The famous historian of Lapland, Samuli Paulaharju, has stayed in Hietala, when he has collected an interview for the history of Lapland (1910 – 1922), for example about the last witch of Lapland, Eeva Kurtti from Kierinki. Of course, many other guests have stayed at the Hietala inn as well. There was a mill in Kieringi, where people came from far away to saw logs or grind grain.
The main building of Hietala was uninhabited for about 20 years until the Holopainen family bought the property and renovated it into a restaurant.
The restaurant offers authentic Lappish cuisine made from local ingredients.
